Mason Women Fall to GW 67-47

The George Mason women’s basketball team came out shooting cold in the first quarter Sunday afternoon and never recovered as they fell to George Washington 67-47 at EagleBank Arena.

Mason came out cold in the first quarter, shooting only 29% and found themselves behind 17-11 after one period. Jordan Wakefield led the way for the Patriots in the quarter with 5 points and 3 rebounds.

Marika Korpinen hit a three out of the gate of the second quarter to bring the Patriots within three at 17-14 but that’s as close as Mason would get. Korpinen hit two more threes and Jasmyn Doster added a bucket to bring the Patriots to within four at 27-23 but from there GW went on a run and closed out the half with a 33-25 lead.

Korpinen led the Patriots with 13 points, followed by Doster with eight and Jordan Wakefield with seven points and eight rebounds.
