Mason Men Win Thriller in Double Overtime, Down UMass 93-92

The George Mason men’s basketball team travelled up to Amherst Wednesday evening to take on the University of Massachusetts in the opening game of A-10 play and came away with a wild, 93-93 double-overtime victory.

Junior Jordan Miller led the way for the Patriots as he scored a game-high 26 points in addition to pulling down eight rebounds and dishing out five assists. Fellow Junior Jamal Hartwell II added 19 points including a three-pointer at the end of the first overtime sending the game to the second OT period. Freshman Tyler Kolek continued his hot shooting, adding a career-high 19 points.

Mason managed to secure the victory even as towards the end of the second overtime period five of their players – Josh Oduro, AJ Wilson, Xavier Johnson, Greg Calixte and Bahaide Haidara – all fouled out.

The victory lifts the Green & Gold to 5-2 overall on the season and 1-0 in A-10 play.

Mason travels to Dayton to take on the Flyers in a nationally televised game on Saturday.
