Howard Falls to Belmont 95-78 in Season Opener

The Howard University Men’s Basketball team fell to mid-major power Belmont University 95-78 Thursday afternoon in the season opener for both teams at the DC Paradise Jam at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C.

The game marked the debut for two high-profile freshmen for the Bison – five-star recruit Makur Maker and Rahim Ali Jr. In total, eight players made their debut for Howard.

Ali Jr. led the way for the Bison with 14 points, followed by Steve Settle with 12, Maker with 11 and Kyle Foster with 10.

The Bison went into the half with a 21 point deficit and were unable to make up all that ground as they eventually fell by 17.

Howard continues their season on Friday afternoon as they take on Division II powerhouse Queens College in the DC Paradise Jam tournament.
