Hines-Allen’s 30 Points Leads Mystics Over Sparks
Led by Myisha Hines-Allen’s 30 points, the Washington Mystics downed the Los Angeles Sparks 80-72 on Thursday night at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Only two other Mystic players were in double figures, as Emma Meesseman added 14 points and Leilani Mitchell added 10.
The game was tied at 68 late in the 4th quarter, when Ariel Atkins hit a 3-pointer with just under three minutes to play to put the Mystics ahead for good. Hines-Allen then made consecutive 3-pointers, dished out an assist to Emma Meesseman and then added a free throw to round out the scoring.
Chelsea Gray led the way for the Sparks with 21 points, while Nneka Ogwumike added 15 and Brittney Sykes contributed 11. Candace Parker dominated the boards as she pulled down 17 rebounds.
The win lifts the Mystics to 7-13 on the season and puts them in 8th place in the WNBA standings.
