After defeating Xavier earlier in the week, Marquette came into Capital One Arena looking for their second straight Big East win.
They got it.
Needing some big free throws and a big defensive rebound by Koby McEwen in the final seconds, Marquette held onto defeat the Hoyas 84-80. The win lifts Marquette to 3-3 in conference play while Georgetown drops to 2-4 in the conference.
Center Omer Yurtseven led the way for the Hoyas in the losing effort with a double-double, going for 22 points while pulling down 11 boards. Sophomore guard Mac McClung led all scorers for Georgetown with 24 points while Jagen Mosely put in 11 and Jamorko Pickett contributed 10 points and 7 rebounds.
