Led by Castellanos, Heber, NYCFC Rolls Over FC Cincinnati 4-1
Led by braces by Valentin Castellanos and Heber, visiting NYCFC rolled over FC Cincinnati 4-1 on Saturday in the team’s first ever visit to Nippert Stadium.
After failing to convert a penalty kick in the match’s 24th minute, FC Cincinnati eventually got on the board when Allan Cruz took a cross from Andrew Gutman and rocketed it past NYCFC keeper Sean Johnson in the 32nd minute.
However, City answered back just two minutes later when Taty took a Maxi Morales feed and curved a shot past Cincinnati keeper Przemyslaw Tyton to level the score at 1.
City got the go-ahead goal in extra time before the half as Heber finished one past Tyton, giving NYCFC a lead they would never relinquish.
Castellanos essentially put the game away in the 71st minute as he easily finished a corner kick deflection and then Heber put the icing on the cake with a goal in the 89th minute.
The victory lifts NYCFC to 11-5-8 with 41 points. They are in third place in the Eastern Conference behind Atlanta and Philadelphia.
