Mystics Capture First Place with Dominating 101-78 Win Over Lynx
Led by three players scoring 20 points or more, the Washington Mystics put on a dazzling offensive performance as they beat the visiting Minnesota Lynx 101-78 on Sunday afternoon in front of a sellout crowd of 4,200 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
Emma Meesseman led all scorers with a season-high 25 points, followed by Elena Delle Donne with 23 and Aerial Powers with 20. They were the first trio to score 20+ points in a single non-overtime game in franchise history. Delle Donne was also a big contributor on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds.
The victory lifts Washington to 17-7 on the season and puts them in first place, one game ahead of Connecticut. The Mystics have won three games in a row and eight of its last nine.
The game also marked the third game this season the Mystics have scored at least 100 points and helped to raise their scoring average to a league-leading 87.3 points per game, five points higher than any other team in the league.
Odyssey Sims led the way for the Lynx with 20 points.
