Mystics Snap Five Game Win Streak, Fall to Phoenix 103-82
The Mystics came into Sunday afternoon’s game with the Phoenix Mercury on a high as they were riding a five-game winning streak, including a decisive win over Phoenix only a few days earlier. However, the tables were turned on Sunday as led by five players scoring in double figures, the Mercury beat the Washington Mystics 103-82 on Sunday in front of 9,000 fans at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Brittney Griner led the way for the Mercury with 26 points, nine rebounds, a career-high eight assists and four blocks. Leilani Mitchell finished with 23 points, Yvonne Turner added a career-high 22 points while Brianna Turner added 12 and DeWanna Bonner added 10.
The Mystics were led by Elena Delle Donne and Emma Meesseman who put in 18 points each. The loss drops the Mystics to 14-7 on the season and puts them in third place, behind league leading Connecticut and second place Las Vegas.
