Delle Donne’s Powers Mystics to 5th Straight Win; Beat Seattle 99-79

Led by Elena Delle Donne’s 29 points and 12 rebounds, the Washington Mystics notched their fifth straight victory as they downed the defending champion Seattle Storm 99-79 on Friday night in front of almost 7,500 fans at Angel of the Winds Arena.

The Mystics had a total of five players in double figures, with Ariel Atkins adding 17 points, including five 3-pointers, Emma Meesseman putting in 13 and Krist Toliver and Aerial Powers each scoring 12.

It was the fifth straight victory for the Mystics and brought their record to 14-6 on the season. They are in second place, one-half game behind league leading Connecticut.

The Mystics led throughout the game scoring the game’s first eight points before going into halftime with a 48-34 lead. They then put the game out of reach by scoring 30 points in the third quarter.

Natasha Howard led the way for Seattle with 26 points. The loss drops the Storm to 12-10 on the season, putting them in 6th place in the WNBA standings.
