Toliver’s 32 Points Lead Mystics Over Lynx 79-71
Kristi Toliver scored a season-high 32 points and Elena Delle Donne reached 3,500 career points as the visiting Washington Mystics beat the Minnesota Lynx 79-71 on Wednesday afternoon in front of almost 18,000 fans at Target Center.
Toliver came out of the gate with the hot hand as she made her first six shots on the way to 14 first quarter points and helping the Mystics build a 44-21 halftime lead.
Delle Donne contributed 10 points on the way to reaching the 3,500 point milestone. She became the second-fastest player in WNBA history to reach the mark behind Diana Taurasi. This was the 174th career game for Delle Donne, while Taurasi reached the milestone in just two fewer games.
The victory marked the third straight for the Mystics, and brings them to 12-6 on the season, good enough for third place in the WNBA, just a half-game behind league leading Connecticut and Las Vegas.
Lexie Brown’s 19 points and Sylvia Fowles’ 18 points led the way for the Lynx. The defeat drops them to 10-10 on the season.
