NYCFC Falls to Orlando in U.S. Open Cup Play

NYCFC and Orlando dueled all night long, finishing extra time at 1-1 before going six rounds of penalty kicks on Wednesday night at Exploria Stadium. However, Orlando came out on top, winning on PKs 5-4 and thus advanced to the U.S. Open Cup semifinals.

After a scoreless first-half, Orlando came out strong in the second-half and put one in the net when Chris Mueller headed a cross from Nani into the net in the 61st minute.

NYCFC had its chances, with Keaton Parks and Anton Tinnerholm just missing on chances, and they finally broke through in the closing seconds of stoppage time when Maxi Moralez put it in the net sending the game to extra time.
