Mystics Fall to Mercury 90-68
Tianna Hawkins scored a career high 24 points and Ariel Atkins added 14, but it wasn’t enough as the Washington Mystics fell to the visiting Phoenix Mercury 90-68 on Wednesday afternoon in front of 15,000 at the Capital One Arena.
Coming on the heels of Sunday’s road loss to the L.A. Sparks, the defeat at the hands of the Mercury marked just the second time all season that the Mystics have dropped back-to-back games. Washington stands at 9-5 on the season.
For the Mercury, Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner led the way combining for 47 points. Griner finished with 25 points and eight rebounds while Bonner contributed 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists. It was the fifth win in six games for the Mercury.
