Lloyd’s Brace Leads USWNT to 3-0 Victory Over Chile
The U.S. Women’s National Team easily beat Chile 3-0 on Saturday in its second group-stage match at the World Cup in Paris. The victory ensures them a spot in the round of 16.
Carli Lloyd led the way for the U.S. squad, scoring two goals in the first half. With the first goal, at the 11-minute mark, Lloyd became the first player to score in six consecutive Women’s World Cup matches. With the second goal, Lloyd moved into third place on the all-time scoring list for the Americans with 10. Only Michelle Akers (12) and Abby Wambach (14) have more.
Julie Ertz also scored for the U.S. side.
