D.C. United’s Late Shocks Philly in U.S. Open Cup 4th Round

D.C. United rallied for two late goals in extra time to beat the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday evening in fourth-round play in the U.S. Open Cup at Audi Field

After a scoreless 90 minutes, Philadelphia struck first as Anthony Fontana opened the scoring in the 113th minute.

Five minutes later D.C. United evened the score as extra-time substitute Chris McCann headed it into the net off a corner kick from Wayne Rooney.

Two minutes later, at the 120 mark, Wayne Rooney converted a penalty kick to give D.C. United a 2-1 lead.

The match was a pretty even affair and possession was nearly exactly even, with D.C. United controlling the ball 51% of the time.
