Hawkins, Powers Lead Mystics to an 89-62 Victory Over Dallas
The Washington Mystics rolled to their fourth consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon with a 89-62 victory over the visiting Dallas Wings in front of over 3,500 fans at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
Tianna Hawkins led the way for the Mystics coming off the bench to score a career high 21 points (shooting 77.8% from the field) while Aerial Powers also came off the bench to put in 18. Also in double figures for Washington was Elena Delle Donne and Kristi Toliver with 14 points apiece and Natasha Cloud with 13.
The win lifts the Mystics to 4-1 on the season putting them in second place, just percentage points behind the league leading Connecticut Sun.
Dallas led after the first quarter 20-15 but it all went downhill after that as Washington went on a 12-2 run in the second quarter and then never looked back. Dallas drops to 0-4 on the season with the loss.
Glory Johnson led Dallas with 15 points and 9 rebounds while Imani McGee-Stafford came off the bench to put in 10 points.
Washington heads to Connecticut on Tuesday to take on the Sun in a battle of the league’s two top teams.
