Led by Kristi Toliver’s 19 points and four rebounds, the Washington Mystics improved to 2-1 on the season as they crushed the visiting Chicago Sky 103-85 Wednesday night in front of 2,300 fans at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
The Mystics are undefeated in their brand new arena.
Washington had five players scoring double figures, with Elena Delle Donne, Natasha Cloud and Emma Meesseman each putting in 12 points while Ariel Atkins contributed 11. Delle Donne led all players on the boards, pulling down 7 rebounds.
The game was a close affair for one quarter as the Mystics led by two and the end of the first. However, from that point on the Mystics completely dominated, going on a 24-8 run and then never looking back.
The long ball played a factor in the game as the Mystics went 13-34 from the 3-point line (38.2%).
Diamond DeShields led the way for the Sky putting in 24 points, followed by Jantel Lavender with 15, Cheyenne Paker with 14, Gabby Williams with 12 and Stefanie Dolson with 11. Sky starting guard Allie Quigley who coming into this game led the team averaging 17.5 points, was held scoreless.
