Mystics Dominate in Home Opener, Down Dream 96-75
Elena Della Donne returned to the lineup, putting in 18 points and grabbing 7 rebounds to lead the Washington Mystics to a 96-75 win over the visiting Atlanta Dream on Saturday night in front of 4,200 fans at the Entertainment and Sports Complex.
The win lifts the Mystics to 1-1 on the season.
Mystics point guard Ariel Atkins led all scorers with 21 points leading the team’s offensive charge. Emma Messeman put in 14 points for Washington while Kristi Toliver and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough each contributed 10. Overall, the team shot 61% from the floor in the first half, with Delle Donne going a perfect 7 for 7.
The Dream dropped to 1-2 on the season with Tiffany Hayes and Alex Bentley each leading the way with 11 points each.
