Liverpool Top Tottenham 2-0 in Champions League Final
Mohamed Salah scored on a penalty kick at the 2 minute mark helping to lead Liverpool to a 2-0 victory over Tottenham in Saturday’s Champions League final in front of over 63,000 at Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.
The all-Premier League affair capped an incredible season for Liverpool and helped to erase some of the disappointment of last season’s Champions League final loss to Real Madrid. The victory gave Liverpool the Champions League trophy for the sixth time.
The victory also helped to stem some of the disappointment of narrowly missing out on the Premier League title, which was won on the last day of the season by Manchester City.
Following Saleh’s goal, which was the second-quickest goal in a Champions League final, the game was a tight affair until Divock Origi converted in the 87th minute to ensure the victory.
The win was also a major redemption for manager Jurgen Klopp, who had suffered defeats in his last six major titles. This was his first trophy as Liverpool manager.
