MLS: NYCFC and Chicago Fire Play to 1-1 Draw

NYCFC extended their MLS-best unbeaten streak to eight games as they and the Chicago Fire played to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon at SeatGeek Stadium.

CJ Sapong opened the scoring in the 28th minute for the Fire, giving him five goals on the season. But just 12 minutes later Alexandru Mitrita, playing in his first game in a month due to ankle injury, fired a rocket from 26 yards out into the back of the net to even up the game.

The draw moves NYCFC to 4-1-7 with 19 points on the season. They sit in 5th place in the Eastern Conference, 5 points behind the Philadelphia Union
