Mystics Among WNBA Preseason Favorites
As the 2019 season is set to begin on Friday, the Washington Mystics are one of the top contenders in the league – along with the L.A. Sparks and the Las Vegas Aces – to take home the crown. The key for the Mystics is staying healthy.
Assuming a relatively healthy year, the Mystics have stability in their favor – as they have a number of key players returning – chief among them Elena Delle Donne and Kristi Toliver. Belgium’s Emma Meesseman will also join them this season, returning to the team after being away for most of last season. Joining them this season is second year player Ariel Atkins, LaToya Sanders and Natasha Cloud. With this serving as their nucleus, the Mystics look like a team that is ready replicate last year’s success and then some.
While the team reached the WNBA finals last season, it was a bitter disappointment to get swept by the Seattle Storm. A disappointment that surely will help to motivate the team this year to get back to the finals and take home the crown for the first time in the franchise’s history.
