Storm’s Sue Bird Out Indefinitely with Knee Injury
The Seattle Storm announced that point guard Sue Bird will undergo arthroscopic surgery in her left knee and will be out for an undetermined amount of time during the 2019 season.
SEATTLE – The defending WNBA champion Seattle Storm today announced that point guard Sue Bird will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body in her left knee and will be out indefinitely during the 2019 season.
Bird is coming off another great season last year, as she averaged a career-high 7.1 assists per game and was selected to her record 11th WNBA All-Star game. Additionally during the season she became the WNBA’s all-time leader in games played with 508.
This is the second major blow for the Storm as Breanna Stewart underwent surgery in April to repair a ruptured right Achilles that she suffered in the EuroLeague Finals.
