D.C. United Fall to Houston Dynamo 2-1

After a scoreless first half, D.C. United’s Wayne Rooney opened the game’s scoring with a goal in the 46th minute. However it wouldn’t be enough as Memo Rodriguez and Tommy McNamara scored goals to lift the Houston Dynamo to a 2-1 victory over the visiting United on Saturday afternoon.

Rodriguez broke through against a tough D.C. United defense in the 67th minute and then less than a minute later McNamara put it in the back of the net. It was McNamara’s first goal for the Dynamo since being acquired in the off season.

The two Dynamo goals brought an end to a 266-minute scoreless streak for D.C. United and goalkeeper Bill Hamid. The loss drops the squad to 7-4-3 on the season. They are tied for first place in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Philadelphia Union with 24 points.

The win lifts the Dynamo to 7-2-2 and 23 points on the season and also keeps up their home unbeaten streak (6-0-2) this season.
